2 Hurt After Serious Crash
Colorado State Troopers are investigating a single car crash on Highway 50 that seriously injured two people.
Troopers say a Ford Ranger was heading eastbound on Highway 50 just east of Salida when it veered off the road. The driver overcorrected, and the SUV traveled across both lanes and off the left side of the road. It went down an embankment and rolled, getting caught on some large rocks. Those rocks kept the vehicle from ending up in the Arkansas River.
The passenger was flown to St Anthony’s in Denver to be treated for serious injuries. The driver underwent surgery at Heart of the Rockies before being taken to St. Anthony’s.
Both the driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts. Troopers are investigating but say they think alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
