4-Year Old Boy Found Safe, Father Arrested

A father is arrested on child neglect charges after Colorado Springs police and El Paso County deputies searched for the man’s 4-year-old son.

Springs police said 30-year-old Kelcey Byers called dispatch around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to report that his son had wandered away from him and was lost downtown near Tejon Street and Pikes Peak Boulevard.

When police arrived and started investigating, they discovered that the boy may have never been downtown, police said.

A relative found the boy at home, alone and scared.

Deputies arrested Byers on child neglect charges. He is being held at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
