Large Amount Of Cash Found At Local Gas Station

An anonymous citizen found a large amount of cash at a gas station in Security this week and turned it over to the Sheriff’s Office with the hope of finding the owner.

At about 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, a citizen found the cash in the Diamond Shamrock Station at 205 Main Street. The cash appeared to have been dropped by a customer who made gas and merchandise purchases at that time. The Sheriff’s Office has the cash and is hopeful the owner will come forward to claim the money.

Employees described the customer as a white male in his mid to late 20’s, wearing overalls, a hoodie and baseball cap. He was driving a white pick-up truck with a motorcycle in the back.

Employees held on to the money in the hopes the customer would return. They decided to turn it over to the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. The money is now in safekeeping at the Sheriff’s Office.

If anyone has any information about the identity of the customer, please call Deputy Gwen Cirka at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at 719-390-5555.
