Juvenile Detainee Escapes In Lone Tree
The Lone Tree Police Department is looking for a juvenile detainee who escaped from the Division of Youth Corrections on Thursday.
Police say that just before 10:00 a.m., the 16-year-old boy escaped from a vehicle that had transported him to a doctor’s appointment. They say he faked an illness and asked the driver to pull over. Once the vehicle stopped at C-470 and I-25, the juvenile jumped from the vehicle and ran south. He was chased into the Heritage Hills community before officers lost sight of him.
Lone Tree Elementary school was put on lock down for a couple of hours while police searched for the escapee.
Around 11:30 a.m., the lock down was lifted and police said he was no longer believed to be in the area.
Residents are requested to be on the lookout for the suspect.
He is described as a Hispanic male, 16 years old, and was last seen wearing a grey jacket, dark pants, and black shoes.
Police have not released the name or a picture of the juvenile. We will bring you updates as they become available.
