Gas Line Break Causes Evacuation At Loaf ‘N Jug

A gas line was hit at a Colorado Springs Loaf ‘N Jug, causing an evacuation of the business.

Colorado Springs Fire Department says a 3 and 1/4 inch commercial line was hit at the Loaf ‘N Jug at 4770 Drennan Rd. A contractor for Loaf ‘N Jug was drilling for fence posts when they accidentally hit the gas line.

The building was evacuated and the area is blocked off. There were about a dozen people inside the store when it happened and they were all able to evacuate safely. One lane of westbound Drennan was blocked off while crews worked to clamp the line. The line has now been clamped. CSFD, Colorado Springs Utilities, and Hazmat crews are on the scene to evaluate the break.

We have a crew at the scene. Stay tuned to KRDO.com and NewsChannel 13 for updates.
