Car Rolls Over Guardrail At I-25 And Bijou

Colorado Springs authorities said a car carrying two people went over the guardrail on the northbound Bijou Street exit ramp of Interstate 25, plunged about 30 feet and landed on the concrete walking trail of Monument Creek.

Police said he crash happened just before 5 p.m. Tuesday. Firefighters said they found three passers-by on the trail assisting the victims after the victims were ejected from the car.

Police said the victims were taken to Memorial Hospital and are receiving treatment for injuries that are considered significant but not life-threatening.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed before the accident, police said. Those witnesses told police the vehicle lost control and hit the barrier. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are involved, police said, but speed is considered a factor.

The names of the victims weren’t released as of midnight Tuesday.
