At Least 1 Dead After Tornadoes Hit Plains
Significant tornado damage has occurred overnight in several communities in Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri.
The storm that produced 60 to 75mph wind gusts in southern Colorado is rollingacross the Great Plains.
Rescues are under way early Wednesday morning as the popular vacation town of Branson, Missouri has taken a direct hit from a significant tornado. At least one person has been killed, and 13 injured when a tornado went through a trailer park in Buffalo Missouri.
Due to the extent of damage around Buffalo, public requests for volunteers to help people trapped underneath debris at a trailer park went out from emergency officials in Dallas County, Missouri after tornadoes moved through.
Power is out in some areas of Missouri and searchers are going house-to-house to check for victims. Elsewhere, Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback declared a state of emergency late yesterday after an apparent tornado struck Harveyville.
Eight people were injured when a tornado blew throughthe Kansas townaround 8PM MDT Tuesday evening. Several cars were over turned and reports from Emergency Management indicate heavy damage to many of the homes in the community.
