UPDATE: Hostage Situation Over On Printers Pkwy
An armed man who held two people hostage on Tuesday was shot during a police confrontation, ending a three hour standoff.
Police say an armed individual held two people hostage inside Urological Associates at 75 Printers Pkwy. Negotiators were able to get the man to release those hostages safely. After the release of the hostages, police said the gunman remained in the building in a secluded area. However, after the standoff ended, CSPD spokeswoman Barbara Miller revealed there were three “hidden hostages” hiding inside with the gunman. Miller says they did not release this information for the safety of those individuals. All of the hostages are safe.
The situation began shortly before noon. Around 3:00 p.m., TEU tried to rescue the three remaining hostages when a confrontation ensued. An officer shot the gunman during this confrontation. The gunman was brought out of the building on a stretcher and was taken by an ambulance to the hospital. The condition and identity of the suspect has not been released.
The officer has been placed on routine paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in any Officer-Involved Shooting.
A female tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that she was the center of this hostage situation. She says that she put an ad on Craigslist to sell some puppies. A man contacted her and said that the price is too high and asked her to lower the price. When the girl refused, the man threatened to kill her. She says he found her on Facebook then confronted her at work. The girl’s boyfriend says the suspect’s name is Dominic Oliver. We are working to confirm this story and its connection with the hostage situation.
A Facebook post from Dominic Oliver’s sister says that Oliver died at the hospital. We are working to confirm this information.
IntelliTec College and Tesla EOP, which are located near Urological Associates, were placed on lockdown during the situation.
Urological Associates houses numerous medical offices. It is located near S Union Blvd and E Pikes Peak Blvd. Our crew on scene says doctors’ patients were evacuated from the building around noon.
International Circle was closed between Printers Pkwy and Parkside and reopened after the standoff. Printers Pkwy was also closed during the situation between Pikes Peak and Airport.
A viewer says she saw “terrified employees running out of the building.”
We have a crew at the scene. Stay tuned to KRDO.com and NewsChannel 13 for updates.
