Springs Man Killed In Castle Rock Crash

A Colorado Springs man is killed after Castle Rock police said he parked his SUV on Interstate 25 and got out of the SUV.

It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday in the south bound lanes of the Interstate.

Police said the 23-year-old man was walking around his vehicle when a 41-year-old Monument man’s SUV struck the vehicle, which hit the victim and threw him into the left lane.

The victim’s passenger, a 25-year-old Colorado Springs man, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities, who have not released the names of those involved, are investigating if alcohol played a role in the crash.

It remains unclear why the victim parked his vehicle on the highway.
