Police: Teens Involved In DUI-Related Crash

Colorado Springs police say several teens were involved in an early-morning crash Saturday. Police say the teenage driver is suspected of drinking before driving.

Police tell us the crash happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Maizeland Road.

Police say a 2010 Hyundai Accent driven by a 17-year-old, veered off the roadway in Palmer Park close to the area of the Grand View Overlook. The car side-swiped a tree.

Police say four people were in the car at the time of the crash, but by the time they arrived only two of the teens were at the scene.

A 17-year-old male passenger suffered a broken arm, and the driver sustained abrasions and lacerations that required stitches, police said.

Police arrested the driver. He is being held at the Spring Creek Detention Center and faces charges of felony vehicular assault.

Police say alcohol and driver inexperience are suspected causes of the crash.
