Manitou Gumbo Winners Announced

The annual gumbo cookoff in Manitou Springs to help celebrate Mardi Gras was held Saturday in Soda Springs Park.

Springs Orleans won top honors among professional cooks with Whole Foods Market and Front Range Barbeque also picking up prizes for second and third.

Cindy and Steve Maniscalco of Colorado Springs took first place in the amateur division, followed by Manitou Springs Kiwanis Club and Rick Jolley.

The People’s Choice Award also went to the Maniscalcos and the Showmanship Award went to Team Tobasco.

The Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo Cook-off is sponsored by iManitou (the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau & Office of Economic Development) and Springs Orleans.
