Woman Escapes Serious Injury In Ellicott Fire

Firefighters in El Paso County are determining the cause of a fire that destroyed a mobile home Thursday.

The blaze erupted at around 3 p.m. in the 24000 block of Highway 94 in Ellicott and was under control within an hour, according to firefighters. Water used to extinguish the fire was brought it from nearby Ellicott High School because there are no hydrants in the area.

Firefighters said a female resident was treated for smoke inhalation, and there were no serious injuries. Firefighters didn’t say whether anyone else lived there.

Several neighbors said they saw smoke from the fire from miles away as they were driving home. They said they don’t know the woman who lives in the mobile home.
