Flammable Liquid Burns Student At North Middle School

According to School District 11 spokesperson, Devra Ashby, a student spilled some paraffin oil on himself outside of North Middle School.

Hazmat crews responded to the incident Friday morning to tend to the student and the spill. The student sustained some chemical burns as did a teacher who tried to help him. Both were transported to the hospital but are not in the burn center or ICU.

Ashby says the student brought the bottle of flammable liquid to school with no malicious intent.

North Middle School is located in the 600 block of E Yampa Street.
