Skyway Elementary Evacuated Due To Gas Leak

Skyway Elementary School in Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 was evacuated Monday morning.

Colorado Springs Fire Department requested the evacuation because of a gas leak nearby. The school is located near Cresta Rd and Cheyenne Blvd.

Students may be picked up at Jenkins Park.

According to Colorado Springs Utilities, a gas leak was reported earlier Monday morning. A crew went to search for the source of the leak at a building next to the Skyway Elementary gym. While they were probing for the leak, crews hit another gas line and called the fire department for assistance. The Fire Department decided to evacuate the school.
