A Springs woman is behind bars accused of identity theft.

Colorado Springs police say Essie Garner admitted to stealing a debit card from a 78-year-old woman’s purse and used it at a convenience store on Maizeland Road. Police say Garner recently stayed at the woman’s home in the 2300 block of Zame Place.

Officers arrested Garner on suspicion of identity theft.
