Police Arrest Home Burglary Suspect

Colorado Springs Police arrested a man who is suspected of trying to break into homes on Wednesday.

Someone called police after seeing a suspicious person, identified by police as Richard Flewwellin, driving around in a white Ford truck in the 1400 block of Alexander Road. Flewwellin was allegedly knocking on the door of a residence after the homeowner had left. When nobody answered the door, Flewwellin entered the backyard. The homeowner then returned home and confronted Flewwellin in his backyard. Flewwellin took off before police arrived.

Officers later saw the truck parked a few blocks away from the neighborhood. They watched Flewwellin enter the vehicle and drive away. Officers conducted a traffic stop and found Flewwellin had an outstanding warrant for burglary.

During the arrest, officers found illegal narcotics in Flewwellin’s possession. A criminal history check revealed that he has an extensive criminal history including numerous arrests for burglary.

Flewwellin was arrested and booked in CJC for numerous charges.
