Head-On Crash Shuts Down WB Hwy 24 Near Manitou

A car ran head-on into a semi trailer truck Wednesday night, prompting crews to close down all westbound lanes of State Highway 24.

The wreck happened just a short time after 10:00pm, where Hwy 24 crosses Ridge Road.

Initial reports of a fuel tank rupture and explosion turned out to be unfounded, but at least one person at the scene had critical injuries.

Westbound traffic was being detoured off the highway at 31st street in Old Colorado City.
