Frontier Expands Flights To Colorado Springs
Frontier Airlines is expanding its services offered at the Colorado Springs Airport.
The airline said Thursday it will now offer flights from Colorado Springs to Phoenix, Seattle, Portland, Ore., and Los Angeles.
Frontier said it will operate the new routes with 138-seat Airbus A319 aircraft.
Frontier executives joined Colorado Springs airport officials to announce the new service at the Colorado Springs Airport Thursday morning.
“We’ve offered low fares to Colorado Springs for over four years, and we’re delighted to offer low-fare, time-saving nonstop travel options to customers in both Colorado Springs and throughout southern Colorado,” said Daniel Shurz, Frontier’s senior vice president.
According to the airlines, flights will be available starting at $69 for Los Angeles, $49 for Phoenix and $89 for Portland and Seattle. The flights will initially only be available for purchase on frontierairlines.com.
Shurz said he hopes the addition of these flights will prevent travelers from having to drive to the Denver International Airport for the lowest fares.
“Some of the other airlines charge a lot for convenience. As far as we’re concerned, it’s cost effective for us to offer the service for the same low fares. That’s what gets people on our airplanes,” said Shurz.
Many in attendance of Thursday’s announcement said this a sign of things to come.
“To see airlines starting to gain confidence and put capacity back into a market such as Colorado Springs, that’s a terrific sign of their confidence in what our market is going,” said Mark Earle, director of aviation for Colorado Springs.
Doug Quimby, interim CEO, Greater Colorado Springs Chamber said, “The new nonstop service and lower fares will be key components in our efforts to recruit and retain businesses and grow our region’s economy.”
Frontier said the new service is expected to begin in May.
