Santorum Wins Colorado Caucus

Rick Santorum has delivered a stinging blow to front-runner Mitt Romney, winning political caucuses in Colorado and Minnesota in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. Santorum also won a non-binding primary in Missouri that gave him some bragging rights but no delegates.

Santorum’s three-state sweep raised fresh doubts about Romney’s ability to win over conservative voters. And it gave Santorum grounds for claiming that he – not Newt Gingrich – is the strongest conservative alternative to Romney.

Santorum had 40% of the vote in Colorado with Romney in second at 35%. Newt Gingrich had 13% and Ron Paul came in at 12%.

47% of El Paso County voted for Rick Santorum. By the end of the evening, all but one precinct reported results. The GOP could not contact precinct 236 at Explorer Elementary School because they were still caucusing. The GOP tells KRDO NewsChannel13 that they may not count their results since they cannot reach them.
