Update: Phone Service Restored To Greater San Luis Valley

Repair crews have restored a phone outage that affected much of Southern Colorado Monday.

A CenturyLink representative says a fiber optic line was cut near Colorado City around 10:40 a.m.

Customers experiencing a loss of cell phone and data service stretched across the San Luis Valley and parts beyond.

Outages were reported in Buena Vista, Trinidad, La Veta, Monte Vista, Walsenburg, and other areas.

According to Verizon, 22 Verizon communication towers were affected by the severed line.

911 calls were not affected because there is a backup system in place for emergency services.
