New Pueblo County Court Judge Appointed

Gov. John Hickenlooper announced today the appointment of David Lobato to serve as a county court judge in the 10th Judicial District. Lobato will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Ernest Ruybalid.

Lobato, of Pueblo, currently serves as the Deputy State Public Defender in the Pueblo Regional Office, where he works exclusively in the area of criminal defense handling misdemeanor, traffic and felony cases.

Before attending law school, Lobato was an associate pastor at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pueblo. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest after completing course studies in Rome. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Santa Fe and a J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School.

Lobato’s judicial appointment is effective immediately.
