Residents Safe After Early-Morning Motel Fire

A fire broke out at the La Fon Motel in Manitou Springs Monday morning. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, while residents made it to safety.

“All of a sudden I hear pounding on my door, it was the owner, saying there was a fire everybody has to get out right now,” according to Les Cole, who lives in the building.

The fire started around 6:30 a.m. according to firefighters, who found two units on fire when they arrived.

The owner told us that the power to the building will be shut off for a couple of days and that all the residents will be moved to different rooms in the meantime.

The investigation is still under way, however, initial reports are that it was an electrical fire. According to firefighters this is the second such fire at this location in the past year.
