Road And Travel Conditions

UPDATE: Driving conditions throughout southeastern Colorado have improved. Most highways are reported wet in spots, with many roadways reported dry. Light snow showers continue to fall in areas around Lamar and Springfield. The only areas still experiencing winter driving conditions with some remaining snowpack and icy spots are the mountainous areas, including west of Walsenburg over La Veta Pass (US 160), where the chain law remains in effect for large trucks, US 24 west of Colorado Springs, US 50 west of Canon City, and State Highways 96/69 in the Wet Mountain Valley (Westcliffe area).

Southeastern Colorado highway closures include:

~US 287 between Eads and Limon ~CO 94 Closed from Enoch Rd east of Colorado Springs to US 40r ~State Highway 71 between Rocky Ford and Limon ~CO-86 is closed in both directions from Kiowa to I-70 due to adverse conditions. There is no estimated reopening time. ~CO Hwy 12/Chucharas Pass closed both directions 22 miles south of La Veta because of an accident.
