Snow Cancels About A Third Of Denver Flights

About a third of flights into and out of Denver have been canceled because of the snow storm hitting Colorado.

Airport officials say nearly 600 flights have been canceled Friday.

That includes about 100 flights canceled by Southwest Airlines. The airline scratched all of its flights into and out of Denver through 4 p.m. MT to mitigate the impact of the storm on its operations elsewhere across the country. It will re-evaluate what do to about the rest of the day’s flights later.

Delays are also expected since planes need to be deiced before taking off.

Colorado Springs Airport has maintained normal operations through the storm. The airlines canceled five inbound and five outbound flights that connect through DIA due to the weather. Flights to all other destinations are operating with only minor delays. The airport says some additional delays can be expected as the snow event continues.

Airport officials recommend checking the status of your flight with your airline before departing for the airport.
