Black Hills Energy Warns Of Employee Impersonators
Black Hills Energy is reminding Pueblo customers to beware of criminals after recent reports of people impersonating meter readers.
The company is reminding customers of their operating policies:
~If Black Hills Energy employees require access to a home or business, they will knock on the door, identify themselves, and clearly state the nature of their visit. ~Employees and contractors always carry company-issued photo identification and if asked by the customer, can provide contact information for their supervisor. ~Our employees are normally dressed in a standard Black Hills Energy logoed-uniform, and travel in marked company vehicles. “The safety of our customers is important to us,” said Christopher Burke, vice president of Colorado Utility Operations. “Although we no longer deploy regular meter readers because of our recently-completed automated meter reading system, the public is likely to come into contact with our field employees who build and repair the electric system.”
Black Hills recommends that if you encounter an individual purporting to be a Black Hills Energy employee who is not in uniform or otherwise seems suspicious, ask to see their photo ID and for the name of their supervisor. If still in doubt, call Black Hills Energy at 888-890-5554. Customer service associates are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
