Alamosa County Crash Kills Two Sisters

A crash three miles west of Alamosa killed two sisters Thursday afternoon.

44-year-old Jolene Ford of Center, Colorado was driving with her sister, 50-year-old Jean Ford, westbound on Colorado 160 around 4:40 p.m. Jolene was driving a 2006 Saturn sedan when it spun out of control and into the eastbound lane of traffic where it collided with a semi truck. After impact, the semi, which was eastbound at the time of the crash and loaded with potatoes, rolled onto its right side.

Jolene and Jean were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Alamosa County Coroner’s Office. The semi driver, 45-year-old Steven Templeton, was not injured in the crash.

All occupants were wearing seat belts and Colorado State Patrol says drugs and alcohol are not suspected as a factor in the crash.

CSP says the immediate area was covered with snow and ice. The area around the scene appeared clear, but CSP says motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions.
