Breakfast Program Appears To Help Kids

ENGLEWOOD – An in-class breakfast program at an elementary school in Englewood seems to be working.

Clayton Elementary won a state award for the program. Teachers say the real benefit is the effect it’s had in the classroom.

Teachers say students are participating more and paying more attention. Administrators say discipline referrals dropped by 50 percent.

The state is trying to expand the program to other schools through the “No Kid Hungry” campaign.
