Fort Carson Prefers Murder Charges Against Soldier
Charges have been preferred against a Soldier for the alleged murder of Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux who was found dead in the barracks on Fort Carson on Jan. 8th.
Sgt. Vincinte L. Jackson 576th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, was charged with an Article 118, murder with premeditation.
In a release issued Friday, Fort Carson officials say Jackson was placed in pretrial confinement on Jan. 20th at the Fort Carson Criminal Justice Center.
Army Criminal Investigation Division spokesman Chris Grey says 28-year-old Fonteneaux was found with stab wounds.
Jackson’s charge sheet says he stabbed Fontenaux with a knife and strangled her with his hands at some point between Jan. 6th and Jan. 8th.
Fonteneaux joined the army in Oct. 2009 and joined her current unit in March 2010. She was a Food Operations Specialist in the 4th Engineer Battalion. Throughout her service she received an Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
Investigators and the Army are not releasing much information about Jackson and have even refused to release his hometown or age because of the serious charges. The Associated Press identified the sergeant as a 40 years old.
