New Mexico Homicide Suspect May Be Headed To Colorado

A Santa Fe County, New Mexico homicide suspect may be headed to Colorado.

According to our ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, KOAT Action 7 News, the shooting happened in or near a mobile home on Monday afternoon.

54-year-old Arthur Anaya shot 51-year-old Theresa Vigil and 16-year-old Austin Urban after a fight over rental payments. Anaya was the landlord and fired the shots in or near a mobile home park.

Urban died at the scene and Vigil died after being taken to the hospital. Urban was at the home because he was dating Vigil’s teenage daughter.

Anaya’s arrest warrant says he’s facing charges for two open counts of murder. He is described as 5’6″, 190 lbs, with brown eyes and graying hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, brown jacket with blue collar. He may be wearing prescription eye glasses.

Sheriff’s office officials say Anaya is considered to be armed and dangerous and violent according to his prior criminal history.

It is unclear whether Anaya headed to Colorado Monday afternoon. Scanner reports indicated that police believed he was headed to Colorado and may have a kidnapped juvenile with him.
