Man Arrested For Sexual Assault On A Child

Detectives from the CSPD Crimes Against Children Unit and the Tactical Enforcement Unit arrested a man for sexual assault on a child on Jan. 19th.

53-year-old Raymond Turner is accused of four counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. All of the victims are nine years old and younger. The victims say he was babysitting them with his wife during the alleged assaults at his home off Florence Avenue near the Southgate Mall.

In September 2011, the Colorado Springs Police Department began the investigation involving a reported sexual assault on a child. During the following months and after several forensic interviews with the alleged victims and Turner, an arrest warrant was issued.

Turner was taken into custody without incident at a local business. He was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

Turner is free on bond until his next court appearance.

On Tuesday afternoon, police found Turner dead in an SUV in the Police Operations Building parking lot with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
