New Billboard In Springs Calling God An Imaginary Friend

A new billboard is going up in Colorado Springs Monday.

The billboard is paid for by the Colorado Coalition of Reason (COCORE), an atheist group. The new billboard will be off of I-25 and Garden of the Gods.

The sign will read, “God is an imaginary friend. Choose reality, it will be better for all of us.”

It was created by the Boulder Atheists, which is one of the groups under COCORE.

“This type of billboard is hoped will encourage communication between believers and non-believers and everyone in general,” says Groff Schroeder with COCORE.

But those who believe different feel this is not going to be effective.

“You don’t really initiate open, honest dialog by making fun of your opponent,” according to Glenn Stanton with Focus On The Family.

Both groups agree that only time will tell what type of conversations will become of the billboards.

COCORE will put up a total of three billboards in Colorado, with one in Colorado Springs and two in Denver. The Denver locations will be off East Colfax and South Federal Boulevard.
