District 49 Board Member Resigns

A board member in Falcon School District 49 for the last two years, Chris Wright, has resigned his position effective immediately.

“I have enjoyed my time on this board, but it is time for me to concentrate on my family and my business,” said Wright.

The district will be receiving his official resignation at the Thursday, January 26 board meeting. If the resignation is approved by the board, the vacancy will be posted at the February 9 meeting. Colorado law requires the position be filled within 60 days. The newly appointed director will finish Director Wright’s term and will need to run for office in 2013.

“We appreciate Chris’ hard work on behalf of the district and we look forward to his continued involvement as a parent and community member in this district,” said Tammy Harold, Board President.

According to the D-49 website, Wright is married and has nine children. He and his family reside in Falcon, CO. He has been a small business owner for ten years, which employs sixteen people. He was elected to the school board in 2009 and is a strong advocate for the district’s Innovation Initiative.
