Water Main Break Repairs Stretch Into Sunday

Colorado Springs Utilities worked Saturday to fix a water main break on Garden Of the God Road and Chestnut.

CSU officials said a portion of Chestnut was closed south of Garden of the Gods Road for much of the day. Eastbound drivers on Garden of the Gods Road between Forge and Chestnut dealt with lane restrictions.

A spokesman for Colorado Springs Utilities said complications locating the break are going to keep crews on scene through the night. Traffic restrictions will remain in place and could also continue Monday.

That spokesman said the break occurred on an 8″ cast iron pipe installed in 1963, so age is likely cause.

There was a water main break in the same area two weeks ago.
