Police: DUI Driver Crashes, Rolls Car
Colorado Springs police arrested a man for hitting a light pole with his car, crashing through a fence, hitting a parked car, and rolling. Alcohol is considered a factor.
Police say it happed near the entrance to the Windmill Apartments on Lacy Lane near Airport and Murray.
When officers arrived they found an unoccupied Jeep Wrangler that had been crashed.
The investigation revealed that the Jeep had been travelling on Murray when it veered off the right side of the road.
Police say the Jeep hit a light pole then struck and travelled through the fence surrounding the parking lot for the apartment complex.
Officers tell Newschannel 13 the Jeep then struck an unattended, parked car in the parking lot, before it came to rest on its driver’s side.
Officers found the owner of the vehicle at his home on Daylilly Lane, about a block away from the crash.
21-year-old Nicholas Cassata was taken to the hospital, then served and released for violations including hit and run, and DUI.
