One in Hospital, One Arrested After Springs Crash

One man is in the hospital and one man is arrested after an early morning crash in the Springs.

It happened on Dominion Way, just east of Academy Blvd.

Colorado Springs police say a car driven by 23-year-old Kellen Kostka drove off the right side of the road, hitting two pedestrians in a group of three.

A 45-year-old man was taken to the hospital with a variety of wounds, including head injuries.

He’s in serious condition, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Police say Kostka drove away from the scene, hitting a light pole, and continued north on Academy to Dublin Blvd.

He stopped his car in the middle of westbound Dublin after realizing his car had caught on fire.

That’s where police caught him.

Officers we spoke to say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Kosta is facing a number of charges.
