Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian Accident On Pikes Peak Ave

There is an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at Pikes Peak Ave. and Institute St.

Our KRDO crew on scene says an elderly woman was crossing in the crosswalk, heading north on Institute when she was struck by a car coming from the westbound turn lane of Pikes Peak. That left turn lane of Pikes Peak is currently closed. Police say the woman had the right of way.

The Major Accidents Unit is on the scene. Police say the woman has serious injuries including cuts to her face, a broken pelvis, and a broken hip.

The male driver is currently being charged with careless driving.
