Pueblo Police Warn Businesses About Forged Checks

The Pueblo Police Department is warning local businesses about forged traveler’s checks that may be circling the area.

On Jan. 9th, Laquianeshia Rogers was arrested for passing forged traveler’s checks. A Pueblo Target loss prevention employee says Rogers passed eight forged $100 traveler’s checks at the Target store at 3300 Dillon Drive on Jan. 8th. The routing number showed the check had been issued by the Union Bank of California. All eight of the checks had the same number.

Rogers received over $600 in cash and passed the eight checks. She also received a total of $167.79 in merchandise from the store.

Pueblo Police later learned that Rogers used the forged checks at various stores in other states including New Mexico, Arizona, and California.

Rogers is being charged with eight counts of Forgery and Theft.

Pueblo Police say that if any businesses in the Pueblo area received a forged Master Card Traveler’s Check, they should contact Detective Donnie Lambert at 719-553-2533.
