Alamosa Plane Crash Investigation

Investigators say one propeller on a twin-engine airplane didn’t appear to be producing power when the plane crashed in Colorado last year, killing the only person on board.

The plane crashed Nov. 10 shortly after taking off from San Luis Valley Regional Airport in Alamosa. The owner of the plane, Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots, identified the pilot as the Rev. Steve Dreher. The plane was a Cessna 337G, which has one engine in front of the cabin and another behind the cabin.

A National Transportation Safety Board report dated Monday says the rear propeller didn’t appear to be turning and the fuel valve to that engine was closed. The report says a witness saw both engines running before takeoff.

The NTSB hasn’t released a cause for the crash.
