Federal Agents Arrest 4 In Pueblo Drug Ring
Four people were arrested on Jan. 5, accused of transporting methamphetamine to Colorado Springs.
According to federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the methamphetamine apparently came from out of state and was moved by bus and van.
Valentine Torres-Valez, 29, Daniel Arabia, 24, Julio Soto, 22, and Raquel Cardenas, 19, were arrested.
All four of them were being held in the Pueblo County jail on immigration holds and their bail has been set at $50,000 each.
Detective Chris D’Amour said the four were drug couriers.
Federal agents have been investigating this drug ring for months. Their investigation started after a Nov. 7 arrest. Carlos Meza Osorio was found with seven pounds of suspected methamphetamine.
According to DEA agents, Pedro Perez Barraza was arrested for being the main drug dealer.
Agents said the four people who were arrested were transporting two pounds of meth from Phoenix to Albuquerque, N.M. DEA agents were following the suspected drug smugglers the entire time.
According to their affidavit, the four were stopped in Pueblo for speeding. That allowed police to search the van.
Federal agents said the drugs are likely from Mexican cartels. This latest round of arrests is the third suspected drug ring that’s been busted in six months with ties to Mexican drugs in Pueblo.
