Fremont Police Chase Leads To Arrest

An 18-year-old Lamar resident was arrested on Tuesday after he stole a vehicle and led officers on a pursuit.

Dakota Turner was arrested by Lamar Police on a $20,000 warrant in connection with a vehicle pursuit and stolen car recovery in Canon City during the early morning hours of January 9th. Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies involved in the pursuit obtained the arrest warrant after identifying Turner in surveillance videos from a fast food drive through restaurant. Deputies had recovered a McDonalds receipt in the stolen Honda after it was abandoned during the short chase through Canon City. The receipt led deputies to a McDonalds restaurant in Pueblo where deputies were able to identify Turner in surveillance videos as the driver of the stolen Honda.

Deputies also recovered a Springfield rifle in the Honda which was in a Ford pickup when it was stolen from a Canon City residence on January 2nd. Turner is also suspected of being involved in an earlier pursuit with Canon City Police on January 2nd, involving a third stolen vehicle.
