Army ‘Aggressively’ Investigating Barracks Death
The Army says investigators are interviewing people about the death of a soldier from Houston whose body was found in her barracks at a Colorado infantry post, but no one has been arrested or charged.
The body of Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux, 28, was found Sunday at Fort Carson outside Colorado Springs. Her death is being investigated as a homicide. Officials haven’t said how she was killed
The Army Criminal Investigation Command said Wednesday its agents are “aggressively” investigating the case. Officials declined to say whether the people being interviewed are considered witnesses, suspects or friends of Fonteneaux.
Fonteneaux joined the army in Oct. 2009 and joined her current unit in March 2010. She was a Food Operations Specialist in the 4th Engineer Battalion. Throughout her service she received an Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
The Mountain Post says no one has been arrested in connection with Fonteneaux’s death.
