Springs Death Is Kidnapped Pueblo Man
Colorado Springs police confirm that the body of a man found last night in Colorado Springs is that of a kidnapped Pueblo man.
Police got the call about a body on the side of the road around 11:30 Monday night. The body was found on Rim Ridge Court near Academy and Vickers.
21-year-old Jeremy Naranjo was kidnapped from the 2100 block of Hellbeck Drive in Pueblo on Monday and police confirm he is the victim of this homicide. Police says this is the first homicide for Colorado Springs in 2012.
Police say Naranjo died from a gunshot wound.
The man who discovered the body, Tim Wooldridge, talked to KRDO NewsChannel 13. He says he was getting in his truck when he saw what looked like a body about 20 feet from a fire hydrant. Wooldridge says the initial thought was hard to believe. At first he thought perhaps the victim was passed out but soon realized he was not.
Wooldridge says the victim was laying face-first in the bushes like he had been pushed out of a car. He says the victim was handcuffed and had his shirt off.
Pueblo Police say the kidnapping may be drug related.
KRDO NewsChannel 13 talked to the victim’s sister-in-law, Andrea. She says Naranjo was taken from his girlfriend’s house at gunpoint. Witnesses tell her about 11 men showed up to take Naranjo away. They allegedly told people at the home that Naranjo was going to die. She says people on scene tell her the leader of the group is from Colorado Springs.
The Pueblo Police Department will be investigating the Kidnapping charge and the Colorado Springs Police Department will be working the Homicide investigation. The agencies are working in unison with one another.
