Rayshawn Laster & Mark Doutt To Appear In Court Monday
The man accused of gunning down his mother two weeks ago in her Security home will appear before a judge Monday.
Rayshawn Laster is a known gang member, authorities say. Laster is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of his mother, Brenda Taylor.
According to an arrest warrant, a family member told deputies she saw Laster point and shoot the gun.
In another Monday court case, there is a plea hearing scheduled for a man charged with taking off after slamming into a cyclist. Police said Mark Doutt hit William Byas, Jr. as Byas rode his bicycle on South Circle by Verde at 1 a.m. on June 26.
Byas was killed. Doutt left the scene without stopping. Officers arrested him outside a home in Security.
Doutt, 50, faces a felony charge of an accident involving a death. He has two previous convictions of impaired driving. One conviction was in El Paso County in 1987, the other in Teller County in 2006.
