High Speed Pursuit Ends With Guns Drawn

Troopers arrested a man at gunpoint Thursday night after a highway pursuit that began back in Monument.

A CSP trooper at the scene tells a NewsChannel 13 photographer that the pursuit began just after 10:00pm, when a driver failed to pull over for a routine traffic stop on I-25.

CSP pursued the driver for a brief time, losing him at one point.

The pursuit started again as the driver got closer to Colorado Springs, with units from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and C.S.P.D. cars in pursuit as well.

It ended when the driver stopped his car just west of Academy & Woodmen. He surrendered peacefully, and there were no crashes or injuries to report.

We are still awaiting details on who the driver was.

At the time of the arrest, troopers did not know his motives for fleeing.
