Colorado Christian University Suing Federal Government

Colorado Christian University is taking the federal government to court. The school says it is being coerced into violating deeply held religious beliefs. It offers a group health plan to it’s employees and students. Under a federal mandate that plan must offer contraceptives.

The school’s administration is suing the federal government accusing it of deliberately attacking the religious beliefs of Colorado Christian University and millions of other Americans.

CCU president Bill Armstrong says, “Whether or not people or in our case universities who have sincerely held moral convictions against abortions should nonetheless be required to pay for and support it and endorse it in effect.”

NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado disagrees. “No one is compelling anyone to take action against their religious beliefs,” said Emilie C. Ailts. “They are making contraception more accessible and affordable to those who want to take contraception.”
