High Winds Knock Down Trees

Colorado Springs Utilities crews respond to reports of a tree knocked over in downtown Colorado Springs.

Crews said when they arrived in the 1200 block of Williamette at about noon Saturday, they found a tree leaning against power lines.

Officials said they planned to cut electricity to the lines so that they could get the tree down safely.

Colorado Springs Utilities also reported electric outages in the Palmer Park area. Officials said it was caused by a blown transformer. Initially 650 customers were without power. Crews rerouted power lines, and officials said power was restored to most homes.
