Honda Expands Recall Of Faulty Airbags

Honda is adding another 272,000 vehicles to a massive recall involving a faulty airbag.

Earlier this month, Honda announced it was expanding the recall of faulty airbags that inflate with too much pressure. Honda added 603,000 vehicles to the recall on Dec. 1.

This problem has caused a dozen injuries and at least one death.

The expanded recall applies to certain cars of the following makes and model years: 2001 and 2002 Accord, 2001 to 2003 Civic, 2001 to 2003 Odyssey, 2002 and 2003 CR-V, 2003 Pilot, 2002 and 2003 Acura 3.2 TL and 2003 Acura 3.2 CL.

An auto safety expert says the company has issued what may be a first: a STOP SALE order to its franchised dealers on used vehicles that may have the faulty airbag. Honda is not sure where some 640 airbag inflators are because they were put in as repairs, not as original equipment.
