Fremont County Man Arrested For Child Sex Assault

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man wanted for sexual assault on a child that they had been trying to track down since 2009.

33-year-old William Drake was arrested on Dec. 24, charged with sexual assault on a child who was 13 at the time of the assault.

The male victim told investigators that the assault first happened at Drake’s home at the Cedar Village Mobile Home Park in Canon City around March of 2006. He says there were two assaults at that location and 4-5 at another location in Florence.

The alleged victim says that in each instance alcohol, and sometimes marijuana, was consumed that was supplied by Drake. Drake knew the alleged victim well and kept pushing for more sexual activity with each visit according to court documents.

The first report by the alleged victim was made in 2009 but it took investigators two years to track down Drake. They noted in the court documents that Drake’s family did not believe the accusations and failed to cooperate with investigators.

Drake did plead guilty to a similar crime in 1997 according to the affidavit.

Drake is being held at the Fremont County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond. He has not exercised that option.
