UPDATE: Officer-Involved Accident In Pueblo

A burglary in progress turned into a police chase and officer-involved accident on Tuesday.

Around 11:15 Tuesday morning, Pueblo Police officers were called to the 1800 block of Iroquois Rd on the report of a burglary in progress. Suspects inside a black Dodge Durango were trying to leave the scene. The Durango rammed the front of a detective’s unmarked patrol car before fleeing the scene.

Officers were chasing the Durango when it hit another unmarked patrol car with two detectives inside. The Durango then lost control and crashed into a police cruiser.

The pursuit ended in the area of Iroquois Rd and Horseshoe Dr when the suspects abandoned the vehicle and ran away.

Two detectives were able to apprehend Bobby Sanders and Eric Maes at 1620 Iroquois. The third suspect, Filberto Solano, was apprehended by an officer at 1611 Kickapoo.

Meanwhile, officers at the burglarized home found the front door had been kicked in. The home of was ransacked but no one was inside. Two televisions had been taken from the home.

The victim’s son-in-law tells police that the stolen televisions are valued at over $1,300.

All three suspects were transported to Pueblo County Jail where Sanders and Maes were booked on charges of Second Degree Burglary. Sanders was booked on the charges of Second Degree Burglary, Vehicular Assault, Vehicular Eluding, and several outstanding warrants.

Deputy Chief Troy Davenport tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that three police officers were taken to the hospital. They are expected to be released soon.

Jerry Murphy Rd was blocked in both directions from Glenmore Rd to the 1800 block of Jerry Murphy during the incident.
