39 Charges Against Local Photographer Accused Of Sex Assault

Formal charges were filed on Wednesday against a local photographer accused of sexually assaulting a child.

A total of 39 felony charges were filed by the DA’s office in the case against Glen Godec. He is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child, 9 counts of sexual exploitation of a child, and numerous charges of possession of child pornography.

Godec was arrested at his home in the 300 block of Kenady Circle on Dec. 6 after a 5-month-long investigation into accusations that he watched pornographic videos in the presence of an 11-year-old victim and had repeated sexual contact with the child.

Police say he showed pornography to the victim and touched her inappropriately.

“She didn’t think anything was wrong until her mother said that it was,” said a family friend who declined to be identified.

Police say some of the images involved the victim and a younger sister, as well as unknown children. However, police believe none of the unknown children is from the Colorado Springs area.

Police say Godec took professional photographs associated with local middle schools and schools of dance in which he would have had contact with other children and their families. Police say they have no evidence yet that other victims may exist.

It’s believed that the alleged crimes happened at Godec’s home and not in a public location where he may have been doing photography work.
